Richard Avedon is one of the photographers I keep coming back to. I love the energy and simplicity of his work, and the way he changed fashion photography by bringing movement, personality, and life into photographs that had often felt much more posed and static. His books are wonderful objects in their own right, but unfortunately some of them have become difficult to find and expensive. Avedon: Photographs 1947-1977 is one of those books. It's long out of print and usually means hunting the used market, but it's a book I think is worth knowing about even if you can't immediately find a copy for your shelf.
